Samana Mission: Our Facilities

Our Facilities in Samanana

Left: This house, shown here near completion, represents the first of many construction projects here on the property.

Samana Property Overview

Although the property may seem quite large, a quick walk around the premises will show otherwise. A lot of thought and prayer has gone into the planning and construction to make the very best use of everything available. Since acquiring the property, over 100 citrus trees have been planted, hundreds of bananas and pineapples, scores of flowers and fruit trees, an herb garden, fruit and flower arbors and much more. God has greatly blessed and the property is yielding its bounty in great abundance.

To aid those who've yet to have a chance to visit, we offer here an overview of the different areas of the Samana Mission.

Note: Detailed descriptions and pictures to follow

Kitchen and Bakery - A new kitchen and bakery are both under construction. Large and built to feed a small army, they are also fully functional for meeting all the needs of the families living in and visiting the mission. In addition to the main kitchen facility, we also have a typical Dominican outdoor country kitchen provided as a practical fully functional example of economy and safety for cooking over an open fire. There will also be small kitchens in our guest houses for our visitors convenience.

Bathrooms/Showers - Gravity fed and supplied with solar as well as gas-powered hot water, we're all very thankful for these welcome additions to the mission.

Guest and Residence Houses - (Guest House pictured above.) Each house though sometimes different in style is built with a universal principle in mind. They are well ventilated, allowing for plenty of light and air, and designed to stay cool in the heat as well as dry in the rain. Each house has its own bathroom and kitchen along with a large porch or gazebo.

Multi-Purpose Gazebos- Spread across the property in several beautiful locations near the coast line, each gazebo offers a wonderful place for quiet and relaxation, study and fellowship, and, as the sun sets over the horizon, a wonderful place for individuals to set down a bed and sleep in the open air.

Arbors - There will be many arbors all over the mission for fruiting and flowering vines. We are currently constructing a large arbor covered with flowering vines with benches for an open outdoor church right on the bay!

Satellite Internet/WiFi - As the Lord continues to lead, it is our plan to have our computer facility finished by Summer of 2007. Our plan is to setup a satellite connection with a wide-range WiFi router to blanket the property with internet. While a communication tool, the primary function is as another means of supporting the mission financially and as a means for furthering our internet ministries.
