Samana Mission: Send A Youth Group
While all are always welcome, regardless of whether they are blessed with means or not, as a special way to support the work, we've put together packages for churches interested in sending their youth groups for a stay in the Dominican Republic. The Samana Mission has been blessed with a beautiful environment free from the tight grasp of the world, which provides a wonderful place for young people to gather together and learn, intellectually, physically, and above all, spiritually.
There are two main reasons for sending your youth group to the Samana Mission:
- A Reality Check - Many of the young people in 1st world countries haven't seen what it's like to live in poverty, yet still have all your needs met and be completely happy. Your young people will receive a sense of appreciation for God's blessings and a realization that happiness has nothing to do with material possessions but rather a complete trust in our Father in Heaven and having Christ within.
- Send Home Missionaries - Our purpose, by God's grace, is to send you home a group of young people who've been thoroughly trained and who will be able to work as a united and highly active group in their own churches and communities. Each individual or small groups, depending on how many are sent, will study a specific part of the main program (for instance, one student may study Hydrotherapy in the Medical Missionary Program while another studies the use of natural herbs). The final result will be students who are each thoroughly trained in their subject and able to teach their fellow students and together, as a team, teach and minister in their churches and communities.
While our programs are built and tailored to the individual needs of each group, a general outline of some of the activities during the week is as follows:
- Morning: Worship, Breakfast, and light work around the property, learning about and caring for the many fruit trees, flowers, and vegetable gardens.
- Early Afternoon: In the cool of shade, time is spent in education and "hands on" training in the programs chosen and as the youth express interest, including medical missionary work, evangelism, cooking, country living, bible study, construction, and much more.
- Late Afternoon: After a delicious lunch, time is divided, depending on the day, between "hands-on" educational activities, local outreach, and recreational time out in the beauty of God's amazing handiwork.
- Evening: As the sun begins to set, all gather back at the Mission to close the day together in worship and praise to our Creator. Testimonies are shared, lessons reviewed together, and the evening brought to a close.
If you're interested, contact us! As we learn about your group's individual needs we'll work with you to put together a program and calculate the costs. Because of all the resources God has blessed us with and the low cost of living in the Dominican Republic, staying here for any period of time is very affordable. Any money left over from the package will go directly into supporting the work here on the Samana Mission in our moving forward and declaring the truths of the Gospel.
